Client Communication

All treatments are fully explained, and clients are given the opportunity to ask questions.
All personal information is used solely for assessment and the ongoing provision of care.

Collection of Personal Information

We collect, use, and disclose your personal health and medical information strictly for the purpose of providing services. This may include sharing relevant information with:

  • Next of kin and/or enduring guardians

  • Medical officers, nurses, and allied health professionals

  • Ambulance and emergency services

  • Hospitals and healthcare facilities

  • Aged care assessment teams

  • Relevant government agencies (e.g. Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Medicare)

  • Health insurers and medical suppliers, such as pharmacists

 

Sensitive Information

Under the Privacy Act, sensitive information includes details about an individual’s:

  • Racial or ethnic origin

  • Political opinions or affiliations

  • Religious or philosophical beliefs

  • Trade union or professional association membership

  • Criminal record

  • Health and medical history

We will use your sensitive information only:

  • For the primary purpose for which it was collected

  • For a secondary purpose directly related to the primary purpose

  • With your consent

  • Where required or authorised by law

 

Collection from Third Parties

Where possible, we collect personal information directly from you.
However, in some cases, we may receive information from third parties such as next of kin, healthcare professionals, hospitals, or government agencies.
In such cases, we will take reasonable steps to ensure you are made aware of the information provided to us.

 

Disclosure of Personal Information

Your personal information may be disclosed:

  • To third parties with your consent

  • Where required or authorised by law

 

Information Security

Luxicare complies with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW) regarding the management of client data.

Your personal information is stored securely to protect against misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.

When your information is no longer needed for its original purpose, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it. However, most personal information will be retained in client records for a minimum of seven (7) years, as required by law.

 

Accessing Your Personal Information

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and request corrections if necessary.

To make a request, please email us at info@luxicare.com.au.
We do not charge any fees for access or for providing a copy of your information.
For security reasons, we may require identification before releasing the information.
